Ford Transit Tracker & Ghost Immobiliser Installation Across Yorkshire — Trades, Tools, Fleet
The Ford Transit, Transit Custom and Transit Connect are among the most-stolen vehicles in Yorkshire — and for trades owners, the van being gone often matters less than the £15,000–£40,000 of tools and stock that goes with it. We install S7 and S5 trackers plus Ghost II on Transits every week across Yorkshire — at your yard, your home or our workshop, with fleet-day discounts for 3+ vans on the same visit.

Why Ford Transits are stolen
For most thieves working trades vans, the van is the means; the tools are the goal. Three methods dominate:
Tools as the primary target
< 90 secA crew can clear the contents of an unattended Transit in under 90 seconds. Relay-unlock, open the rear doors, stack the contents into a following van, gone.
Relay attack on keyless Custom
< 60 secCurrent Transit Custom trims with keyless entry are vulnerable to the same relay attack that targets premium cars.
OBD cloning on every Transit
60–120 secEvery current Transit has an accessible OBD port that can programme a blank key in 60–120 seconds. The single biggest vulnerability in UK van theft.
The recommended stack
What to fit on every Ford Transit
For trades Transits the install priorities are different from a premium car. Ghost II first — it stops the OBD clone starting the van. Then a Thatcham tracker for the insurer.
Fleet customers: ask about fleet-day installation at your yard — single invoice, batch certificates, discounted labour for 3+ vans.
Autowatch Ghost II
The single most valuable upgrade — stops the OBD clone starting the van. For many trades owners, Ghost II + factory alarm is enough.
Ghost II installation →Thatcham S7 Tracker
The insurer-accepted layer. Real-time GPS, tow-away alerts, app-monitored. S7 usually satisfies standard van insurance.
S7 installation →Thatcham S5 Tracker
If the van is tool-heavy (£15k+ contents) or your insurer specifies it. ADR control room, driver tags.
S5 installation →Generation by generation

Ghost II on Ford Transit
Ghost II is the single most valuable upgrade for a trades Transit. It blocks the OBD-clone start that keyless Transits are most vulnerable to. No subscription — one-off install cost. Your factory alarm coexists without interference.

Frequently asked
Ford Transit FAQs
Will Ghost II work on my keyless Transit Custom Sport?
Yes — that's exactly the vehicle Ghost II is designed to protect. It blocks the OBD-clone start.
Do I need S5 on my Transit, or will S7 do?
S7 usually satisfies standard van insurance. S5 makes sense if your insurer has specified it, or if the van carries £15k+ of tools.
Can you fit a whole fleet in a day?
Yes — most of our fleet days are 4–6 vans at a yard, one installer, one working day.
Will a tracker help me claim for stolen tools?
Indirectly — it recovers the van, often with some of the tools still inside. It doesn't replace dedicated tool insurance.
Can I fit Ghost II without a tracker on my trades van?
Yes — Ghost II on its own is a legitimate choice for owners whose insurer hasn't required a tracker. No subscription.
My van's been broken into twice — will this prevent it?
Ghost II prevents the drive-away theft. It doesn't prevent break-and-grab tool theft — for that, rear-door deadlocks and a cabin dash cam are the answer.
Can I use my existing factory alarm alongside Ghost II?
Yes — Ghost II and your factory alarm coexist without interference.
Can the tracker be transferred to my next van?
Yes — we re-fit at a discounted labour rate.
Do you fit dash cams while you're there?
Yes — Thinkware models are often bundled with a tracker install. The X1000 adds a cabin channel useful for trades/delivery operators.
Fleet-day quotes — how fast?
Same day on request. Single invoice with per-vehicle breakdown.
